RICHARDSON EAGLE FOOTBALL
Eagle Fans:
Eagle Fans:
After a couple of weeks to think about it and recover from disappointment
that we didn’t qualify for the playoffs, I wanted to attempt
to summarize the 2008 season. What a whirlwind four months with
tremendous highs and disappointing lows! Both feelings arise from
our kids’ and fans’ realization that Eagle Football
is alive and well, and on the road back.
It would be crazy to think about 2008 without remembering the
experience of breaking a 27 game losing streak in week two versus
the Denton Broncos. Our program will never forget the way Richardson
High School and our community responded to that win. The looks
on our players’ faces with the realization that victory
was theirs made everything it cost worth it. Achieving our first
road win and district win in 3 years at John Kincaide Stadium
against Dallas Sunset was such an accomplishment and to have our
defense pitch a shutout made it all the more special.
Even the lows of our season come with the memory that these Eagles
went in to everyone of those contests preparing to win, expecting
to win, and competing their tails off every play. What a great
change! To spend weeks 9 and 10 talking about what was required
of us to get in the playoffs is a foundation we can build on in
the coming months.
Week 10. Carrollton Creekview. Down 21-7 with less than 7 minutes
remaining against a program ranked #7 in the Metroplex after seven
weeks, your Eagles rose to the challenge! Tremendous team defense
to force stops and turnovers coupled with an offensive drive of
90 yards to score the winning touchdown led to the biggest team
win for RHS in 16 years. There are more to come.
To our seniors, thank you. You have begun the turn and you have
a piece of everything great that comes in the future.
Thank you, Richardson, for all your support. Great things are
coming and we need every one of you to get it done.
